US Government Agency Announces Plan to Reduce Salt in Processed Foods

VOAvideo — May 27, 2010 — Experts say Americans consume nearly fifty percent more salt in their daily diets than they need and that excess sodium consumption results in high blood pressure and cardiovascular disease. The U.S. Food and Drug Administration is embarking on a new program to gradually reduce sodium in restaurant and packaged foods. VOA's Vidushi Sinha has more in this report.
