The Last Day of Summer School 2008

Today, the Seniors hosted a potluck to celebrate the end of summer school.

Before the potluck, the Seniors talked about the new school year 2008-2009.
  • Registration: Wed, August 20, 9am-12 noon

  • First Day of Class: Mon, August 25, 8:45am

Then, the Seniors completed a crossword puzzle about "Keeping Cool" during the summer. We also previewed ESL Podcast 395 – Watching the Olympic Games

At 10am, all the students brought their food into our classroom. Then we gathered in front of the school for a group photo. We didn't know that there were so many summer school students! This picture only shows about a third of our schoolmates.

Afterwards, everyone squeezed into our classroom for an all-school potluck. The food was great!

Lunch at Fresh Choice

Senior ESL Class @ Fresh Choice, Great Mall, Milpitas

Today the Seniors had lunch at Fresh Choice to celebrate the end of summer school. We ate many fresh vegetables and tried different baked goods. No one liked the pho w/ chicken soup, but everyone loved the peaches. We talked about what we want to study in September.

The Senior ESL Class toasts
Governor Arnold Schwarzenegger on his 61st Birthday:
Long Life and Good Health!

Before we went to lunch, we completed the worksheet and listening activity for Heinle Picture Dictionary: the Beach. We discussed sailing, sun screen, parasols, parachute (skydiving), para-sailing, and hang-gliding.

I wrote: George Bush parachutes on his birthday every year.

Mr Lin said: I went para-sailing in Malaysia. It was fun! I was about 60 years old.

Miss Cuc said: My son and sister parachuted into the water in Thailand. It was funny.

Mr Wu taught us a new exercise: we shake our legs and wave our arms at the same time. It was fun, but difficult to coordinate arm and leg exercises.

Tomorrow, the Seniors will host an all-school potluck to celebrate the end of summer school.
